Common Prayer might well be the least Google-able name of any band I have ever encountered. As lovely (and, in fact as fitting) a name as it is, one needs to trawl through pages of the Anglican liturgy before finding anything musical.
Having familiarised yourself with the various Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, you may eventually stumble upon a band called Common Prayer. They seem a loose group, hanging from the songs of Jason Sebastian Russo – the band leader or, as he would have it, ‘principal heretic’.
Their album, which is out this week, is full of fragile, playful arrangements of simple, touching songs. This Nitemoves remix, though, sets the band somewhere between a (not shit) Postal Service and latter M83. Very enjoyable it is too.
